Easter tradition

2.4.2023   "  There is in Finland that on the Sunday that begins Easter, children have small branches of a tree or bush that has already partly woken to the spring, has flowers, and is among the first such species, and they have decorated the branches with coloured feathers and maybe coloured paper and threads. They go to relatives or neighbours and wave the branch in front of the other one and say "I freshen, I wave branch, to make you fresh and healthy, for the whole coming year. Which one you give : an egg or a chicken? The branch to you and the wage to me." And so they give the branch to the one whom they waved it and told the verse. And so they get candy, chocolade egg or a little money as coins. I think that doing this as a child to my relatives, with the wage a week later on Easter Sjnday,  made me learn about healing, since there is the spring to learn from, about how one recovers back to life like getting refreshed. "

( Yle news had today instructions for making a decoration bird from threads. 

You need three colours : back, cheeks and stomach, and sides of the bird. Take a piece of cartong, 15cm long and steafy enough. Tie a thread around it 10 rounds and cut the ends. Cut then all the threads at both edges, so that you get 20 15cm long threads. That is one buch. Likewise with the other colours. Take the bunches for back and cheeks&stomach, and place them as a cross from their middle. Take threads of the same colour and tie with them each one quite tightly around the other bunch, so that you have two loops which form the head of the bird. Take a piece of paper and squeeze it into a ball with the diameter 1cm. Place the third bunch around it to form the sides of the torso of the bird, and take the ends from head to be the back and stomach of the bird. Take a puece of string and tie between torso and tail. Then find a seed to be the nose of the bird, fasten it with glue. Find black product package part and cut two eyes from it and fasten them with glue. Fasten the nose and eyes to the places where the facial expression is nice and bird like. ) 

4.4.2023   Christians say that one ought to fast before Easter, or at least try a little on Easter Thursday. It is true that in the spring one ought not eat heavily unless there really is a need of such heavy food while taking into account that there no longer is any so cold weathers coming. But I do not think fasting as a good idea. Instead one ought to change to more musical ways of living and try every now and then live some hours with lighter food that has vitamins like fresh carrot for example. And religion can be in that direction, help to change to healthier happier more light ways of living. 

5.4.2023   Haven't been so musical lately, not for a lobg time. This Easter Wednesday brought to my mind a melody :

9th of April 2023   On Easter Sunday, right when the calendar day begins at midnight, Orthodox Christians chant : "Christ awoke from death. Christ arose from death. Truly arouse. ..." The spring brings nature alive. The increasing light and lenghtening days bring warmth which brings the nature alive. 

On Easter Sunday the fast is over and people eat well and most eat a chocolade egg too.
